Given It A Lot Of Thought

For the first time ever, I will not be voting for the Libertarian presidential candidate. No, I haven’t been swept off my feet by Obama. Rather, I cannot, in good conscience, lend my support to someone with an anti-choice record as glaring as that of Bob Barr. I apologize to my party, but that is a definite deal-breaker issue for me. This time, if I want to say as true to my ideals as possible, I’m left with no alternative but Ralph Nader. Not such a bad option; I’ve always respected him.

Verdict: Obscene

Jurors Convict Adult Film Producer
While I don’t care for Max Hardcore’s films, the decision itself, for reasons that should go without saying, troubles me. There’s something in particular that really bothers me though…

Just hours into their deliberations on Wednesday, jurors sought to clarify the meanings of several words and phrases in their jury instructions, including “morbid and degraded,” “unhealthy interest in sex,” and “candid interest in sex.” The judge refused their request to use a dictionary, and said they should rely on their common sense.

I feel very strongly that the Jury’s right to request clarification or innocuous materials like a dictionary is absolutely vital to the process. Something to be included in the appeal? We shall see!
There’s also another Obscenity trial coming up to keep tabs on… Ira Isaacs.
