Too Confident, Too Reckless

Always a drama-filled day at The______ Company. We just found out one of the homes we manage was raided by the police twice last week for drug activity. The department didn’t notify us or the home owner; it was the The Neighborhood Association that called today to tell us that all the doors are [obviously] wide open and the property is not secured.  We just sent our Property manager and a male employee over to check it out. I don’t relish her job of having to contact the owner. I anticipate the question “Did you run a criminal background check on the tenant?” and our lame response of, “No, we don’t do them.” (Having worked for seven years in resident screening, I was shocked!) I hope this incident pushes us to do so in the future.

I wonder, too, what sort of liability we may have on our hands. We inspect our properties twice a year. At this house, we noted the tenant had a closet piled full of cell phones, large plasma screen televisions mounted in each room, always seemed to be “out of town” and late on his rent, sending a different person to bring in money orders for him each month. Those persons always wreaked of marijuana. Recently, one particular man started coming to pay us on the renters behalf, driving a different car each time and said he was a different relation every time- from cousin, nephew, brother and friend. He too smelled like weed, had the eyes to match and looked pretty thugged out with his gold teef and pants around his ass cheeks, but he was always nice to me, so… *shrug*

I look forward to seeing the photos of the house with a sort of morbid curiousity. I almost expect to see the tenant on the news; I’m not sure if he was apprehended at the home or if he is MIA. (The neighborhood is snooty and upscale and this type of thing would probably be sensational enough to warrant air time.) I have a feeling we’re going to be dealing with this siutation for a long time to come… at least it is interesing though. Oh, and am I the only one who finds it comical that the Security Alarm was set when our staffer arrived there?

Serving God

Senator Ernie Chambers, a political independent who has served in the state legislature for 38 years, sued God, seeking a permanent injunction to prevent God from committing acts of violence, such as earthquakes and tornadoes. Douglas County District Court Judge Marion Polk recently dismissed the lawsuit, saying there was no evidence that the defendant had been served. “You can’t sue God if you can’t serve the papers on Him,” he ruled. What seems to be a frivolous lawsuit is the point Chambers was trying to make in response to attempts by other senators in the legislature who were trying to limit “frivolous lawsuits.” Chambers argued, “A lawsuit is not frivolous until a court declares it so. Nobody should stand at the courthouse door to predetermine who has access to the courts,” he said. “My point is that anyone can sue anyone else, even God.” Do you agree that a lawsuit isn’t frivolous until a court declares it so?

I’m on the fence here, though I couldn’t help but think, “So… would he have received a Default Judgement?” :P

Gay School

“School officials and gay activists in the Chicago area have teamed up to create a proposal for a new “gayfriendly” high school that students can attend without facing the harassment they do in other schools. William Greaves, the city’s liaison to the gay and lesbian community and member of the design team, said the proposed Social Justice High School-Pride Campus would be a college prep school for about 600 students. He said the school would support gay, lesbian and transgender students who didn’t integrate well into the system—those who were isolated, struggling and dropping out— as well as others who don’t feel safe, regardless of their sexual orientation. Some in the community support the idea, but others question the use of tax dollars to pay for the school, as well as whether the need for such a school exists, saying it is a step backward toward segregation. Do you think Chicago’s “gay-friendly” high school is a good idea?”

This is an easy answer for me. If that environment is more conducive to learning for them, I think it is terrific. As an openly Bisexual student, I was ridiculed daily and this certainly distracted me. I fail to see how such an institution is a step backward when the spirit and intent of it is very in the now. Such a thing would not have even been discussed in previous eras. There are already schools that separate the sexes because they’ve found that setting best to get kids to focus on their studies and there is similar reasoning at the heart of the matter behind requiring uniforms.

To those opposed on alleged moral grounds, I say: Like it or not, those you call “dykes,” “fags” and “freaks” are a part of the future of the country too. It would behoove everyone to ensure that they receive a sound education. Without that, they are much more likely to become dependent on programs your tax dollars are already supporting. And there’s nothing you can do about that. You are not condoning anything but intellectualism and self sufficiency by allowing this type of school.

Quirk

Have I mentioned my “issues” with Symmetry? If not, briefly, I feel very
uncomfortable looking at things that are not visually balanced. If I do
something to one side, I absolutely have to do exactly the same thing on the
other. My furniture arrangement is a great example of that- bed in the
center, end tables on each side. Manic, I know.

I also have a “thing” about texture. I cannot stick my hand inside of a
chicken to prepare it for cooking. It has little to do with knowing what is
in there, but moreso the *feel* of it. It literally makes me shudder.
Peeling garlic also has a similar effect.
When it comes to food, I am not quite so freaked out. I don’t mind my eggs
sunny side up, however, I cannot handle the runny texture of oysters. Other
than that, I’ll eat almost anything that isn’t spicy or still alive.

There are textures I really, really like too. I love to roll all over satin
sheets naked and I wiggle my toes around gleefully in fuzzy socks. I enjoy
petting cats for the same reason. Soft, sleek, fluffy = pleasant sensation
for me- not just physically, but mentally. Here’s an odd one though… If I
see a patch of moss growing on a rock or the ground, I have a hard time not
touching it. It is just so springy with a gentle definition to it. I can’t
resist. To me, it doesn’t feel like it is alive, but it is this living thing
attached to something else. Fascinating.

I have aural obsessions too… the sound of people fucking, pick scrapes on
the guitar \m/, songs with fake words sung in 3 or more harmonies (i.e. from
oldies like Rama-lama-ding-dong, Wah-wah-wah, Shooby-Doo, Doo-wop, Sha-sha,
Dip-da-dip-da-dip), that ka-chunk-ka-chunk break down guitar part during the
bridge in emo music (Face To Face is one of my favourite bands), waterfalls,
bubbling/boiling, wind. These are all good things to my ears. Bad things are
cicadas, crying, children playing, snoring, car horns, burping/vomiting,
clocks ticking.

Then there are the scents… Like: lilacs, cookies, bread, pot roast, fresh
fruit, fire, clean linens, tea, coffee. Dislike: dog, gasoline,
rain/earthworms, hospitals, booze, berries, cologne, soil, basements,
rubber. I’ve noticed people smell like their houses, which can be good or
bad.
Suffice it to say I have a lot of quirks?

Prezzies for my 31 years

I very rarely ask for shit and I feel kind of weird posting this, but here goes… I know times are tough and money is tight for a lot of people, but if you were thinking of getting me a little something for my birthday, here are a few things I’d love to have, in order of preference:
- something from My Amazon Wishlist
- membership to: TastyTrixie.com or AdorableAudrey.com
- a paid Livejournal account
- full version of Webcam Max software
- Flickr paid account
- Trillian Pro- egift certificates (i.e. Hot Topic, Amazon, Target, Sephora.com,Beauty.com, MACcosmetics.com)
*My email address is: anastacia AT tousledelegance DOT net, or if you need a postal address, please ask.

I know I have been mentioning my birthday a lot, sorry! I guess I am fixated on it since I’ve had so many sad ones the last few years – I would really like to have a happy/fun one to remember. This one in particular is kind of difficult for me. Turning Thirty was fine, easy, whatever… but Thirty-One has me feeling old and ugly. I know I *look* much younger than I am, but I *feel* worn. (I’m not fishing for compliments, so please don’t.) I still don’t have any plans to celebrate on Saturday, though I did apply for the Match Game panel on Rude. I have the house to myself and would like to do something silly at home by myself… Just not sure what yet. Hrm.

You’ve Got Male….

Reading an article [http://www.wishtv.com/global/story.asp?s=9115439] about a local teen who emailed a pic of a random wang to the entire school. This quote made me lol:

“What if you sent it to someone’s house and their parents aren’t home and a child opens it? I mean that’s just ridiculous. I don’t believe it’s the school’s fault. I mean, the internet just worries me,” said Laura Morefield, a parent.”

It never ceases to amaze me how clueless parents can be and how innocent they think their kids are.
I mean, you should definitely look at porn with your Mom & Dad, never by yourself! (You can’t handle the thoughts your mind will have and the things your body will do!) In fact, I’m going to invite my parents over to supervise a cam show now. And, yeah, you’re right, the internet is very worrisome, so don’t bother to learn about it; let’s just not use it at all.
